PHYSICAL RESTORATION PROCESS
For the correct digitization of the audio files, it is first necessary to thoroughly clean it by mechanical or manual means with fluids adapted to the composition of each format. There are numerous degradations that affect audiovisual media. You can read about these issues in detail in each of the sections related to formats. In a generic way, here we record the following;
– Breaks; many media such as records, tape recorders, cassettes regularly show cracks that must be repaired.
– MOLD; it is one of the most common conditions in audiovisual formats. Excess temperature and high humidity in storage causes their proliferation, constituting a problem that must be treated in a controlled manner.
– EMBEDDED DIRT; especially in the groove formats, it affects a correct reading, so in our laboratory we have not only the best cleaning machines such as the Keith Monks Record Cleaning Machina, Ultrasonic Cleaning machines, or machines such as ITC for audiovisual , but with the adapted fluids and the experience of having dealt with all kinds of situations in this regard.
– Symptoms affecting MAGNETIC TAPE MEDIA; from the so-called Sticky Shed Syndrome, Loss of Lubrication, Vinegar Syndrome, etc. They require treatments prior to digitization so that the quality of the resulting audio is not affected and we achieve a high quality in it.
